Accounting Manager - Orland, CA

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm 

Position Summary:

An established construction services business in Orland is seeking an Accounting Manager for an exciting temp-to-hire opportunity! Once hired on, this role will transition to a salaried position with a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, and 401(k). The Accounting Manager will oversee corporate accounting, financial reporting, payroll, insurance administration, and tax compliance—ensuring accurate financial data, supporting strategic decisions, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management: Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger oversight, budgeting, AP/AR, collections, cash flow, and profit sharing. Prepare accurate, timely financial reports and reconcile accounts in line with internal controls and regulatory standards.
• Insurance & Compliance: Administer insurance programs (Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Umbrella, etc.) and handle reporting requirements for  business licenses, regulatory permits, and certifications.
• Tax Support: Partner with external accountants by providing necessary information for tax filings; remain up to date on tax laws to ensure compliance.
• Payroll Administration: Oversee payroll processes while ensuring compliance with wage laws, certified payroll reporting, and other labor requirements.
• Job & Asset Management: Manage company assets including vehicles, equipment, registrations, inspections, and permits.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify trends and improve financial performance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with management, staff, and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop accounting teams.
• Meticulous attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with construction-specific systems is a plus.
• Audit-minded with experience in reconciliations and internal controls.

Minimum Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting practices, and regulatory standards.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, OR at least 5 years of equivalent experience in an Accounting Manager role.
• Experience in the construction industry is a plus.
